When I take people for a walk through the forest, they seem to never look where they are stepping even though I keep them on the trail. These plants would have been the victims of someone's feet eventually. Rather than have them destroyed, I take them out and move them into pots for use in environmental remediation projects. I'll let them grow in pots until they are bigger and then give them away.
This is something everyone can do. If a native tree starts to grow in your garden and you already have enough, let it grow for a year or two and then pot it for use in an earth day project somewhere.
